DESPUÉS DE ALICIA
TEXTILE SCULPTURE, PHOTOGRAPHY, SOFT OBJECT PERFORMANCE
2014
Después de Alicia is a multidisciplinary work exploring grief through photography, fabric, and soft sculpture. Following the death of her grandmother, the artist recreated her bedroom as a sewn installation — a space of memory, ritual, and quiet care.
At its center lies a hand-sewn doll that represents the grandmother — resting, traveling, returning. Inspired by Latin American textile traditions like the arpillera, the work transforms mourning into an intimate, tactile gesture. It is not a monument, but a soft farewell — unfinished, embodied, and held close.
